Maybe you’re better off holding the phone away from your ear, after all: A new study is renewing fears that cellphones can cause brain cancer. Tests showed that cellphones cause increased brain activity in areas near the phone when it was held against the head—the first evidence that radiation from the phones directly impacts brain cells. However, the study does not show whether or not such activity is harmful.
