Been a while since I've done an update so here goes nothing!
Bethfest officially ended this past Wednesday. Much of my family had been ill the week of my birthday and so we got together and went to dinner this past week. Had a lovely time and got some wonderful, thoughtful gifts.
Although I went to bed feeling fine, I woke up in the wee hours of Thursday morning with fever/chills and headache and a couple hours later started vomiting. Missed work Thursday and Friday so today spent a couple hours signed onto the office computer sifting through 2000 emails, doing time cards, reviewing productivity reports, etc.
Today, winter came to town with a vengeance. We had freezing precipitation overnight and tonight it is about 4 degrees/-19 wind chill. Brrrrrrrrrrrr. I so look forward to venturing into the office at 7AM in this kind of cold. Think I need gas as well so have that to look forward to. I am glad though that we will now get an extra minute of daylight each day going forward. I suffer so from Seasonal Affective Disorder and am very lethargic here in Ohio during the winter months. We have gray skies from November until March and in the past I've actually had to be medicated to get through it. BUT seems since I've removed all the 'downer people' from my life - I do a lot better in the winter.
Shannon broke her ankle before Thanksgiving and has been off work on disability since. She is 'non-weight bearing' on that ankle still so it has kind of put a crimp in her holidays. Fortunately she has friends to help her. Since she's in Dallas it's kind of hard for me to assist. Phillip is doing ok last I spoke with him. He's not getting as many hours as he was before so I did the mom thing and enouraged (actually lectured and nagged) him to go out and get a second or third job if he must. He can't keep counting on his father and I to bail him out if he's not willing to be out there working his behind off. Hopefully he will grasp the concept before he's homeless.
Well, it's Christmas week and I will work from home on Wednesday and possibly Friday as well which will be nice. I will spend Christmas day at the home of my youngest sister where my other sister, brother and mother will be along with niece and nephews. Typically on Christmas we have buffet with Ham, Turkey and side dishes. After we eat we gather round and open gifts and then we play 'cut throat' Euchre - a mid-western card game. I am taking scalloped potatoes, a cheese ball and a bottle of wine. Whenever I am in a gathering with my mother, lots of wine is required.
Hope everyone got their Christmas shopping done as well as all the other details that come with the day so the rest can be relaxing and downhill from here. I have to go to the grocery tomorrow but other than packing up the car, I'm all done.
I reconnected with a 'ghost from the past' several days ago. Actually, her name came up when I was looking for something online and I took a chance and emailed her - I have no clue why I did it. Was an impulse.......but it has turned out to be a huge blessing. Long story that I won't get into but it just goes to show you how life has a way of bringing things to you when you need them.
Well - I need to call it a night. I've been sipping on some Bailey's Irish Cream which always helps me fall asleep. Gosh I sound like such a lush!!!!!
Smoochies everyone and have a safe, blessed holiday week.
