Quick Food-Processor Biscuits

Bake these at 450 degrees for 15 to 17 minutes. Each recipe makes 8 biscuits.

Cheddar-cayenne biscuits
  • Pulse together in a food processor: 6 Tbs cold butter, 2 cups flour, 1-1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp ground red pepper, and 1 tsp salt.
  • And stir in: 1-1/4 cups buttermilk and 1 cup (4oz) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Drop onto pan and sprinkle with: 1 Tbs toasted sesame seeds
Parmesan-peppercorn biscuits
  • Pulse together in a food processor: 6 Tbs cold butter, 2 cups flour, 1-1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp fresh ground pepper, and 1 tsp salt.
  • And stir in: 1-1/4 cups buttermilk and 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Drop onto pan and sprinkle with: 2 Tbs freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Rosemary biscuits
  • Pulse together in a food processor: 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil, 2-1/4 cups flour, 1-1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp salt.
  • And stir in: 1-1/4 cups buttermilk
  • Drop onto pan and sprinkle with: 1 Tbs coarsely chopped rosemary
