Lennon’s Final Interview Released

Apparently John Lennon’s final interview has been sitting in a reporter’s closet for 30 years. Recorded three days before the singer’s death, the reporter, Jonathan Cott, describes it as a “mid-life meditation.” Lennon muses on his life so far, his mortality, his critics, and his relationship with his son. "I'm not claiming divinity. I've never claimed purity of soul. I've never claimed to have the answers to life. I only put out songs and answer questions as honestly as I can ... But I still believe in peace, love and understanding,” said Lennon. Of his critics, he said they’re only interested in artists on their way up and in dead heroes. “I'm not interesting in being a dead (expletive) hero. ... So forget 'em, forget 'em." The full interview is in Rolling Stone.
