When the body of North Carolina teenager Delvonte Tisdale was found mutilated in Massachusetts, authorities thought he’d been murdered—but they now believe that he fell from a commercial airplane. Tisdale, 16, apparently breached airport security and hid in the wheel well of a Boeing 737 on Nov. 15. When the boy was found dead in Massachusetts, investigators were puzzled as to how he’d traveled so far after being seen alive in North Carolina 24 hours earlier. The tragedy also brought to light serious concerns for airport security. “If that was a terrorist, that could have been a bomb that was planted, undetected. This is very serious,” said one official, adding that he expected further investigation into the case.
