Snow Days

I am about sick of snow and cold weather and am ready to feel the warm sun on my bare skin. Ready to get dirt under my nails and grow things.  Fortunately, we have not had a lot of snow so far this year.  We did have a major ice event this past week and today it's sleeting and cold.  In Ohio we have endless days of  dreary gray skies and cold.   I tend to hibernate during the winter as never ending days with little or no sunshine really has an impact on my energy levels.  I vowed to be different this winter and have tried to stay busy with various activities -  to push  myself to get out and about more no matter how cold.  This past week I went to another OSU game.  We had to walk across icy parking lots, sidewalks, roads and even icy grass to get in and out of the stadium but it was worth the effort as I had a great time.  Went out to dinner with coworkers last night although I had not been feeling the greatest all day. We went to a very nice Mexican place and had great fun drinking margarita's and laughing the evening away.  Before we knew it, it was 10:30.  We'd been sitting there for 4 hours!  I really LIKE the women I work with.  They are all smart, hip women who make me laugh.

Next week I am going to see Cirque du Soleil with my sisters.  This will be the second show I will have attended.  The first one we saw was so stunning - I am hooked and will probably go see them every time they come to town.  I really wish they'd take their Beatle's show on the road - I would love to see that but will probably have to go to Vegas to see it.

Busy times at work.  I recently took over a team of 25 nurses.  Big group to manage but I have two very capable senior nurses to help me.  I am very lucky to have them.  It is a big challenge BUT I am confident we will be absolutely awesome once we get organized.  My  biggest challenge now is to get 25 evaluations completed and sent by the 28th as well as staying on top of everything else.  Fortunately, I don't have to write them - just keep on top of all the details surrounding this huge undertaking.

Most of you who know me know I am a HUGE NCAA hoops fan.  It is really exciting that our own OSU Buckeyes are #1 in the polls and have been for several weeks.   They are also the only undefeated team in the country with an impressive 23-0 record.  Impressive but worrisome.  They have a tough game tomorrow at Wisconsin on ESPN so my world will come to a screeching halt for 2 hours tomorrow afternoon.

After the basketball game I may go out to a movie - probably won't be crowded due to the Super Bowl.  The hype around it is rather sickening to me.  You'd think it was some sort of religious event or something.  Wish as many people who pause for that would get active and petition their own government about things which really DO impact their lives.  Anyway, I've never watched one and this year won't be an exception.  Most of those players will die way too young after playing professional football.

Everyone stay warm and safe and visualize an early spring!
