A sad day for pops fans: Davy Jones, the singer-songwriter best known for his work with the '60s rock group the Monkees, passed away in Martin County, Fla., on Wednesday, TMZ reports. His death was confirmed by an official at the Martin County medical examiner’s office, according to TMZ. He was with the Monkees from their beginning in 1966, recording chart-topping hits like “I’m a Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville.” His last appearance on stage was at a Feb. 19 performance in Oklahoma. Jones is survived by his wife and four daughters.
