Looks like Dracula might not have been such a stretch after all. Archeologists in Bulgaria said on Wednesday they had unearthed skeletal remains of two medieval persons with iron rods through their chests—a practice used to keep people from turning into vampires. The practice had apparently been used for people considered bad who were thought to return to feast on the blood of humans. Other archeological sites have been unearthed in the area. Bulgaria is believed to be home to 100 known “vampire skeleton” burials.
