Marijuana Charges in WA Dismissed

Close on the heels of Tuesday's vote in Washington to legalize recreational marijuana, two of the state's most populous counties are already taking the first steps to its enactment. Although the new law won't take effect until next month, prosecutors in King and Pierce counties, homes to Seattle and Tacoma, have already decided to drop 225 possession cases currently making their way through the court system. Explaining his reason for dropping the cases early, the King County attorney general stated that "there seems to be no point in continuing to prosecute.”
