Hillbilly Beans

3# hamburger
1 bell pepper diced
1 medium onion diced
3-4 cans Bush's beans-original
1# bacon - fried crisp, the set aside
1/2 box of domino dark brown sugar
2-3 Tbs. of regular mustard(used a mustard based barbecue sauce instead)

Fry bacon til crispy. Set bacon aside. Leave some of the grease in the pot.
Put onion, peppers and hamburger in pot with grease and cook until hamburger browned. Drain well.
Add bacon, beans, brown sugar and mustard.
Simmer on stove or in crock pot.

I make a variation of this. I use three or four different kinds of beans though. Big fat butter beasn, red beans, the bush's, (like in the recipe) and white beans of some kind, canneloni or navy.

I don't use quite that much brown sigar. I do use the mustard and some sweeter style BBQ sauce.
Great with the BBQ food for a summery picnic.
