The Bush Administration continues to push us further and further away of what America has historically been....well, at least they're consistent in their unamerican activities.
- Immigrants arrested in the United States may be held indefinitely on suspicion of terrorism and may not challenge their imprisonment in civilian courts, the Bush administration said Monday, opening a new legal front in the fight over the rights of detainees.

I've spent time with many nice people who happen to be American and I've always wanted to visit the place to find some more. I may have to content myself with enjoying their company through the medium of the internet.
The alternative seems to be risking being imprisoned for simply being a foreign national. I feel sad for the hearts that have to embrace the good in their nation against such incomprehensible behaviour.
After I posted the above comment, I was looking at Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy and found something (tangentially) related: "The danger of bad thinking". This relates to an article in Time magazine. All are worth reading.
The point that occurs to me? Well, if the US can pass a law to imprison foreign nationals without trial because of the risk of terrorism then, logically, it should imprison (without trial), drivers, the obese, etc., since the risk of death from and for these is much, much higher.
Well, I think it's a point. But that's just me.
