Another day, another brain dead Republican...
Former Florida Congressman Allen West wasted no time weighing in on the police officer execution of African-American Walter Scott in North Charleston, South Carolina. Of course unlike most African-Americans, West is not as outraged by the shooting itself, as he is by the media drawing attention to the killing. West’s blog entry on his web page for April 9, 2015 begins with the sentence:
You just have to wonder how long the media and black activists will try and milk this one in a case where the justice system clearly worked.
His takeaway from the whole brutal incident is “the justice system clearly worked”.
Of course, West overlooks the fact that had it not been for a brave bystander surreptitiously capturing the incident on cell phone video, the system wouldn’t have worked at all.
Prior to the footage of the shooting surfacing, the official narrative was that Scott had fought with the officer and that the shooting was an act of self-defense. This is evident in original media accounts of the incident, such as this article from the April 4th edition of Charleston’s local newspaper, The Post and Courier:

Kansas Secretary of State warns Obama might ban criminal charges for black suspects
The level of ignorance consistently on display from Republicans is astounding! It's all fear based.
The Kansas Secretary of State agreed with a caller during his weekly radio program that he could envision a scenario where President Barack Obama prohibited the prosecution of black suspects.
A listener who identified himself as Stu called Kris Kobach’s program during a discussion on the University of Minnesota’s decision to stop including race and other physical descriptions in email alerts about campus crimes, reported Right Wing Watch.
The caller said the university’s decision, coupled with Obama’s orders on immigration and Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision not to charge any New Black Panthers with voter intimidation, would pave the way for black suspects to be exempt from prosecution.
The Republican Kobach agreed, saying the Obama administration had made clear that “civil rights laws were only to protect minority races.”

Bill O'Reilly threatens New York Times reporter
What a pompous ass
As more and more former colleagues come forward to call out Fox News' Bill O'Reilly on his "war zone" and "combat situation" lies, Mr. O'Reilly appears to have lost his ever-loving mind:
During a phone conversation, he told a reporter for The New York Times that there would be repercussions if he felt any of the reporter’s coverage was inappropriate. "I am coming after you with everything I have," Mr. O’Reilly said. “You can take it as a threat.”

West Virginia Republican says rape can be ‘beautiful’ if it produces a child
Who votes for these people?
A Republican state lawmaker in West Virginia said on Thursday that while rape is horrible, it’s “beautiful” that a child could be produced in the attack.
According to Huffington Post, Charleston Gazette reporter David Gutman was on the scene when Delegate Brian Kurcaba (R) said, “Obviously rape is awful,” but “What is beautiful is the child is that could come from this.”
Kurcaba made the remarks during a House of Delegates discussion of a law outlawing all abortions in the state after 20 weeks’ gestation. At 20 weeks, anti-choice activists and lawmakers allege, a fetus can feel pain and is therefore too viable to abort.

Obama ‘Has Offended Every Christian’
Once again the right wing is offended when confronted with the truth!
At the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, President Obama told fellow Christians that their religion had been abused and misappropriated in the past, just as Islam has been by terrorists in recent years. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ,” he said. Critics, including many Republicans, were outraged. “The president’s comments this morning at the prayer breakfast are the most offensive I’ve ever heard a president make in my lifetime,” former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore told The Washington Post. “He has offended every believing Christian in the United States. This goes further to the point that Mr. Obama does not believe in America or the values we all share.”

Return of the False Tax Claims
Every once in a while bogus emails get revised, recycled – and widely recirculated.
That is happening now with a viral email that purports to list income tax increases that take effect this year and that “were all passed under the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare” without Republican votes.
We first wrote about this email last year. As we said at that time, “Some of these figures aren’t accurate, and none of these increases took effect on Jan. 1, 2014, or had anything to do with the Affordable Care Act. And the claim that ‘not one Republican voted to do these’ is false.”
In fact, the tax increases listed in that email were part of the “fiscal cliff” package that passed Congress with bipartisan support.
We are now getting inundated with questions from readers about a 2015 version of the same email. This revised email has a new date (January 2015, instead of January 2014) and one additional tax claim. It says, “Top Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%.”
The Medicare tax increase was part of the Affordable Care Act – the only tax listed in the email that was – but it took effect in January 2013, not this year. And it applies only to those who earn more than $250,000 for married couples who file jointly, $125,000 for married couples who file separately and $200,000 for all others.
Otherwise, the email is the same one we wrote about last year. Our tax advice hasn’t changed: Hit the delete button.

Obama To Disband the Marine Corps
You didn't know this, did you?
On a flight home I sat in between two individuals, a Marine and boxing promoter. The boxing guy was an older gentleman, and told interesting stories, such as meeting Don King. Both men were very pleasant and that helped make time pass on the flight. We were all combat veterans and all Southerners, so we had a lot in common. Then the discussion, inevitably, turned to politics.
The older guy turned to the Marine and said "You know Obama is getting rid of the Marine Corps, right?"
The Marine was puzzled. He hadn't heard this news. Neither had I. "Yeah, Eric Holder just had a meeting with the Joint Chiefs. Obama is going to disband them by Executive Order."

Innocent Man Freed After 36 Years
The longest-serving wrongfully convicted man in California was freed Monday. For the first time since 1978, Michael Hanline is not a prisoner. Arrested for the death of his friend J.T. McGarry and convicted in 1980, Hanline spent more than 35 years behind bars. His wife, Sandee, worked with the Innocence Project for more than 15 years to secure his release. Testimony uncovered in sealed police reports cast doubts on the state’s case, and DNA testing showed Hanline’s did not match the available evidence. “We were no longer comfortable with the conviction,” said Michael Lief, the senior deputy district attorney of Ventura County. “I feel like I’m in front of a missile and things are just flying by,” said Hanline upon release. “It’s incredible.” The state has until May 29 to decide if it will retry Hanline.

The anti-immigrant Secretary of State for Kansas agreed with a caller on his radio program that a Hispanic majority might conduct “ethnic cleansing” against whites.

Open carry advocate to moms against guns: ‘Put a d*ck in your mouth and shut up’
In an expletive-filled video diatribe directed at gun control group Moms Demand Action, a gun rights activist pushed back at the group’s latest attempt to limit the open carry of weapons, telling the women to “Put a d*ck in your mouth and shut up!” in a video discovered by Liberaland.
Phoenix resident Rob Kinnison — who uploads pro-gun rants on YouTube under the name Raging Rob – posted the video in response to Moms Demand Action’s drive to get the country’s largest supermarket chain, Kroger, to ban open-carry in their stores.
In a bleep-filled tirade, Kinnison vociferously explains that he is going to continue sending photos of himself bearing his gun while at Kroger stores.

Republican who claims Obama is possessed by demons elected to Colorado House
We still haven't found the lower bound on how crazy you can be and still get elected to office in modern America. In Colorado, for example, the gen-u-ine head of a SPLC-designated hate group has just been elected to the Colorado state House. He will presumably fly himself to each meeting on the wings of invisible bats.

Republicans find it 'disgusting' that blacks could vote
In an interview with Breitbart News, Missouri RNC executive director Matt Wills expressed outrage about the reports of voter registration booths popping up in Ferguson, Breitbart reports.
“If that’s not fanning the political flames, I don’t know what is,” Wills said, “I think it’s not only disgusting but completely inappropriate.”
Wills explained that the shooting death of Michael Brown was a tragedy for everyone.
“This is not just a tragedy for the African American community this is a tragedy for the Missouri community as well as the community of what we call America,” he said. “Injecting race into this conversation and into this tragedy, not only is not helpful, but it doesn’t help a continued conversation of justice and peace.”
I've been giving this some serious thought, because it's so much crazy, packed into so little space.
“If that’s not fanning the political flames, I don’t know what is,” Wills said, “I think it’s not only disgusting but completely inappropriate.”
The Missouri GOP thinks registering to vote is "disgusting" and "completely inappropriate." Why? Because it's Democrats doing it? Not really. It's non-profits. So there's no partisan element. And there's nothing stopping the RNC or Freedomworks from setting up their own voter registration booth.
