Qannik, a 6-year-old beluga whale, swims in a tank at his new home at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, Wash. Qannik, an Inuit name for snowflake, arrived at Point Defiance after a flight from Chicago's Shedd Aquarium.
Hmmm.... This really has me wondering... Just what sort of plane does one have to have to FLY a beluga whale across the country? The whale would have to be in water during the trip... What do they do? Flood the entire cargo hold???

Actually since whales are mammals - I think like dolphins they can be transported without being in a tank -you just have to keep their skin moist.
I still can't believe it's a very easy feat...but Qunnik looks happy, so it must have gone okay.
