Well after a delay of over a week the "home office" arrived on Thursday. I drove all the way into the office on Thursday only to be told to turn around and go home "your computer is being delivered today." It arrived around 2PM and I set it up. After setting it up, conferring with AT&T to activate the DSL account and getting with the IT folks in Reno - I was good to go. Friday was my first 'at home' day. It went very smoothly and I must tell you - I loved it.
Was nice just waking up (although my alarm was set) naturally rather than to the blaring alarm clock. It was nice to sit out back and drink a cup of coffee without the pressure of having to run around like a mad woman to get out the door at an indecent hour. Nice to have some quiet time to be alone with my thoughts. Was nice not to rush out the door into the traffic and oppressive heat. Was nice to use my own bathroom if I needed to. Nice to be able to go get a glass of Kool-Aid when I was thirsty. Nice to watch TV while I ate my lunch and very nice to be at home when I called it a day at 5PM! No working late and then navigating my way home through the traffic.
Now, I have to buckle down and get the "home office" finished. Right now I have the work computer set up in the same room with the personal stuff. I have such angst over picking out a paint color. I always do. I don't know why. Worst case scenerio, I can just paint over it!
After I get that done I will order my desk. I already have it picked out. We'll go into THAT when the time comes.
I don't plan to squander this extra time I've been given on sleeping or watching more and more tv - I plan to use it as "me" time. I'm learning to practice meditation which I am going to do in the mornings. I intend to spend my lunch hour doing household chores so that will be done. I'm shopping for an elliptical machine to start using. I've been a big fan of the treadmill - used to walk at least a mile sometimes two if I had the opportunity to take a lunch at my last job in our gym - elliptical machines are the same thing just supposed to be easier on the feet and ankles as well as your knees and hips. They're also smaller. So if someone has a brand that they've been really pleased with I'd be happy to hear about it. I DO want fancy - meaning computer to keep track of miles and minutes, ability to adjust to an incline, etc.
There's an anti-war march in D.C. next month - if I am not scheduled to work that weekend I'm thinking of going. The September schedule isn't posted yet so I don't know. I'm sure I can make arrangements for someone to look after the wee one's - all three of them. It's a short trip. Usually you leave really early Saturday morning (or late Friday - depending on your perspective.) to arrive in time for the march. Rally, march - drive back home. It's 6-8 hrs from here to D.C. depending on what kind of a driver you are.
Well, until next time........have a great week!
