This is the natural result of people who are 'married to the dogma'. I find this true of people especially who are raised up in a religion and never question it - just accept it on faith and never challenge their beliefs or themselves. Even Jesus had a crisis of faith. These people really don't have true faith or knowledge of who they say they believe in. They're just self righteous vessels of dogma - they walk around repeating what they've memorized but don't live it or apply it because it really doesn't mean anything to them. They think it does. They think they are doing wonderful things in God's name but they are doing it for themselves. It's the parable of the Wedding Feast played out right before our eyes.
