Hate to break it to you but your post does smack of racisim. You are making the assumption that hispanics are simply not as efficient BUT because they speak the language they get the jobs. This is the same argument put forth by those opposed to affirmative action - that the less qualified folks of color take jobs away from more qualified folks of lighter skin color. Problem with that argument is the assumption that the white person was better qualified - or smarter. You sound bent out of shape because you had problems with a referral and instead of calling the person who botched up the process as incompetent you are choosing instead to generalize about a whole group of people. This wouldn't have been an issue if it was a white, spanish speaking person who had screwed up. But because it was a brown person - well then damn it - all those unqualified brown people are being hired just because they speak spainish. Ridiculous.
And yes - people are often filled with self loathing...just because you have some hispanic relatives does not mean you aren't biased. That's just like the racist folks who like to brag about thier 'black friends' while defending their racist points of view.
If you are not a native american YOU too are a decendent of immigrants - lighten up.
