A friend of mine emailed me and asked me if I accepted the position. I had posted an update on Twitter but neglected to post something to the blog. So sorry.
I did accept the position and will start my new duties on Tuesday. I already started getting up earlier. Got up at 7AM today and will get up at 7AM tomorrow. 6AM Sat and Sun and hopefully spring out of bed at 5:30 on Monday and Tuesday :) Discipline. My days of staying up until all hours of the night are about to come to an end.
I am both nervous and excited. I have 15 people who will report to me. There is a company picnic Saturday which I wasn't planning on attending but I may make an appearance now so I can start putting faces to names. I will admit, I am not looking forward to the commute but its an opportunity I couldn't refuse and will give me some good experience I can market elsewhere if it proves to be something I hate.

congrats!! i don't envy you the early mornings or the commute- but the actual job sounds like a good challenge and what you need to get you out of your comfy rut :)
