Apple will start selling songs on iTunes for as little as 69 cents.
There will be three tiers of iTunes pricing, Schiller said, at 69 cents, 99 cents and $1.29. The pricing changes start in April.
More significantly, by the end of the first quarter, all 10 million songs on iTunes will be sold without digital rights management software. A limited number of songs (a few million) on iTunes had been sold that way for the past year.
What that means is that any song one buys at iTunes will now play on any device, including Microsoft's Zune player.
