Randi Rhodes Show Becomes Nancy Skinner Show

From Greenlee Gazette:

Listeners of The Randi Rhodes Show finally got an answer--though not many details--to "where's Randi?" After almost two weeks off the air, Nova M Radio began broadcasting The Nancy Skinner Show in place of Randi. Gone are her bumper music, her scripted bits, the name of the show, and even her message board.

We Randi fans have gone through this before, of course, with nearly identical circumstances. But when she left Air America Radio, she had the Nova M gig lined up in less than a week. All was explained, and everybody felt better. This time, there might not be a comfortable place to land, and fans of the show have nowhere to go.

I finally get to listen to my radio in the middle of the day again. No more RANTI thank GOD.

Completely agree. Randi was Randi's biggest fan. According to her, she almost single handedly was responsible for Democrats getting elected, the rest of us did nothing. And could someone tell me why she had an incoming line? She never let anyone talk unless the caller was spouting adoration. God, I'm glad she's gone

I miss her wit, truth, humor. I don't miss her friday shake your boobie song.

You know, I liked Randi alot, as she had facts, and was real. The only thing I didn't like is that her ego was beginning to become too big, and it was showing more & more. Nancy doesn't seam to have the foundation and feel that Randi did though. Not sure I like her as much.

I enjoyed Randi in small doses but she definitely came across as something of a diva. I haven't listened to Nancy much yet but she seems to have a warmer personality. She'll grow into the job... besides, I still have Mike Malloy for the ranting... his show has very high entertainment value.

I was a big Randi fan, but the drama was getting to be a bit much. Nancy has a more even personality and is respectful of her callers and guests. With the suddenness of getting a new show, and the many roles she's had to play until she's able to hire staff, as well as the need to put up a whole new network in two days, it's probably been hard for her to put in the prep time she'd normally like -- it takes a lot more than many people think to put on a good radio show. Booking guests, doing research, engineering, producing, etc. -- and Nancy's had to do it all herself so far. Once a staff is in place and she can concentrate on just the show, I'm sure she'll get better and better.

Some people don't like that she has so many conservative guests on and that she goes on Faux News so much -- they think she's a right wing plant. Well, that couldn't be further from the truth. I've been listening to Nancy for a long time, and she's as progressive as they come. It helps to talk to the other side -- Nancy has been able to hang them by their own words, with sweetness rather than shouting. Shouting never helps -- it just makes people defensive. It's better to kill them with kindness!

Thank God Randi the mouth is gone! Way too much ego and rude...Nancy has a great sence of humor without the Stephanie Miller idiotic-ness,no more ruddness, informed and easy to listen to.

Nancy is a keeper!

Actually, I tried to give Nancy a shot - she's just not that sharp and a poor substitute for Randi. I've canx my 'Founders' mbrship and moved on. I too grew tired of the drama that was Randi Rhodes....BUT the girl did her homework and was very sharp re the facts.

Sounds like Nancy posting about HERSELF. That's what happens when you post as Anonymous

At first Nancy seemed okay, but now she seems really ADHD to me. Very scattered, lack of focus, too much filler, "fluff" chatter, not enough substance, overly-long musical interludes, etc. This seemed to get worse when she moved to Detroit. She seems very taken with herself to me. I have to really work to listen to her, and am unlikely to that for much longer.

I miss Randi, although she wasn't perfect. But she did her homework and stayed focused. She was interesting to listen to.

I hope my radio station finds a better show to run soon.

I started listening to Randi when she was on air at WLIB in New York. Initially I enjoyed having the option of tuning in to someone liberal as opposed to the right wing nuts.

Over time Randi became a cult of personality to her listeners and her show devolved into a left wing version of Rush Limbaugh. I even wrote to Randi BEGGING her to please let the callers to the show get a word in, obviously it didn't help.

I grew tired of listening to Randi go on and on about her illnesses, her chaotic personal life, the show turned into a monologue with no room for debate.

Nancy Skinner is a breath of fresh air !

Interesting that so many 'pro nancy' posts are Anonymous. I don't think that's coincidence. Either post your info or I will delete.

I want my Randi back.....I am lost here in Florida with only that big mouth Rusch. Randi had more infor than anyone on the air and I miss hearing her on the AM dial. Someone please bring her back and soon.

Glad to see the mouth that roared is silenced ! Hope it stays that way.
By the way, did she ever figure out "what happened to her" when she spent all afternoon in a bar then fell on her face on the sidewalk ? Gosh, I wonder what could have happened ?

I think that the Radio (and TV) industry are in the middle of a change, not unlike the economic change that we are all going through right now. It will take a while for this to settle down, but when it does, there will be a place for Randi. My only question is, who's going to be the highest bidder!

Nancy Skinner=Boring. She won't carry the show very long before she is gone. True, Randi had an ego, she was crude but she was real and not afraid to speak her mind. I miss her a lot a turn the station when Nancy Skinner comes on.

I agree. Skinner is a snoozefest and she can't seem to talk in complete sentences. She was already dropped from Sirus and Thom Hartman is now on 3-6.

randi does her homework---not so we don't have to, but because most of us don't. we're all better for it.
