Always File Your Tax Return

Whether you owe no money to the IRS, expect a refund, or can't pay your tax bill in full, you must file a tax return by April 15th. If you don't, you could face a penalty for filing late. Plus if you owe taxes, you will be assessed penalties for underpayment and the IRS could potentially pursue you for taxes until paid in full.

If you can't afford to pay your taxes you must still file your return on time and request an extension to pay and/or set up an installment plan with the IRS. If you need more time to file your return because you are missing some information, you can request an extension of time for filing.
