And the saga continues: Elizabeth Edwards is working to prevent Rielle Hunter from becoming a stepmom to her two younger kids, Emma, 12, and Jack, 10, if she were to lose her battle with cancer. Edwards doesn't want her estranged husband's mistress anywhere near her children, and is grooming her eldest child, Cate, 28, to raise them. Edwards is making such plans because her health has taken a turn for the worse, the New York Daily News reports, and her sister confirms that she's been considering turning to family members to keep John Edwards from getting custody. But divorce lawyers say it's very difficult to deprive a father of custody in that situation—if adultery were grounds to do so, half of American parents would lose their kids.
